…in search of good times and good friends… Wasn’t that a muppet song?
We made some great progress over the weekend. Friday wasn’t quite as productive as I’d hoped, primarily because I was hung up in the big city longer than expected. But the guys did come back by the house to put the trim up on the foyer window. We needed to get this task done, along with hanging the chandelier, so that the scaffolding could finally come down.
(Great shot of the power pole you dork.)
It turned out fabulous. We’re excited to start seeing the rest of it go up soon. The guys also put the door in between the house and the garage. Unfortunately it’s damaged – on the jam side. Which means it came to us that way. *sigh* So we’re going to have to get a replacement. But it’s a door for now, it just doesn’t have a door knob!
Speaking of the chandelier, here it be. Pesky little sucker. I found it online. I was a bit worried it’d be way too small for the space. And it is a tad bit small, but it works. And we really like the style. However, the thing is a total pain. We still can’t seem to get it to balance correctly. You can’t tell from the top or bottom, but if you’re standing on the stairs just level with it, you can see it lists a bit. Aggravation extraordinaire. This project, which should have taken about an hour max took us more than twice that.
Saturday we hauled some butt.
The boys worked on installing the hardwood flooring. (It didn’t go as planned, but I’ll let Josh tell you about it if he so chooses. I’m keeping my mouth firmly shut on the subject.) They didn’t get as far as they’d have liked on Saturday, but by the time I’d left on Sunday you could see this:
The office/guest bedroom
The dining room and foyer.
Sorry – I didn’t mop before taking the pictures, just keepin’ it real here. By the time I had to leave on Sunday they were into the kitchen and living room. I talked to Josh tonight and he said he’s just about finished. Hurray!
So while the boys were cranking out the floor, Josh’s mom and I were paintingpaintingpainting. Wanna see some?
Here’s the kid’s bathroom. It’s a rather neutral gray color, “Travertine”. It’ll be easy to either stay neutral (if kid #2 happens to be a girl) or boy it up (if #2’s another boy). Thinkin’ ahead, eh?
This is the bonus room. It looks rather chocolaty in this photo. I must have been having a sweet attack when I picked out colors. The name of the paint is actually “Universal Umber”. It’s not as dark as it looks in that picture though.
See? (Sorry about the schmutz on the lens. It was a long day)
The ceiling in this room is that same Ancient Scroll as used in the foyer/hallyway/living room/mudroom. Yeesh! I painted the hallway on Saturday as well – you can see it in the bottom photo. I’ll be so glad to be done with that color. I like it, but I’m getting sick of painting it.
While Josh is at home slaving away on the floor, I’m dealing with one of the worst aspects of my job…
Whooohahahahahaha I crack myself up. Seriously? Of all my work trips, this is always my favorite. I’m up at Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park helping them get the store open and giving all their employees thier annual environmental training. In that photo up there? The store is on the right. Under that big wall of snow. So by “getting it ready” I mean digging out the doors and windows. We don’t get to play with the big toys – that’s the National Park Service. But it’s always a great trip. The folks that work here are great people and, hey, you can’t beat the “environment”. I’ll be here until Wednesday, so I probably won’t be updating until I get back home and have a chance to take some more pictures. Probably Friday. Unless you just can’t stand to live without hearing more about this whole Trail Ridge Store opening. Then I could probably be convinced to post some more pictures. But right now? It’s getting late. And I have free wi-fi. So I’m going to go watch that episode of Bones that for some reason Directv doesn’t want me to watch off my DVR. Until next time!
